Payal leads Verra’s work on technological and industrial solutions and assists with VCS Program development. With more than 15 years of experience in carbon markets, Payal helps ensure the quality of projects registering and issuing emission reduction units with Verra programs. Payal focuses on providing guidance and support to project developers, third-party auditors, methodology developers, and other stakeholders.

Prior to joining Verra, Payal worked with the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), where she reviewed projects, developed methodologies, and assessed the performance of DOEs under the CDM for the compliance market. Payal has also supported international negotiations under the UNFCCC at various COPs and subsidiary sessions on a variety of agenda items ranging from market and non-market approaches.

Before joining UNFCCC, Payal worked at Ernst and Young in India, providing sustainability and climate advisory services. She holds a master’s degree in environmental economics and currently lives in Bonn, Germany. Payal enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures in her free time.
